1930s Chicago. One lonely Frankenstein doesn’t want small talk, he wants a companion. So he links up with Dr. Euphronius and goes for a “romance plan” that is, objectively, not a good idea. The centerpiece: they revive a murdered young woman, and suddenly. The Bride is born. At first it’s science-that-should-have-stayed-in-the-lab. Then she starts outshining their expectations, and the story turns from horrified scheming into something dangerously close to a love story. Of course, that attracts police attention like a magnet to bad decisions. And because movies like this can’t resist adding chaos, her existence also fuels a wild, radical social movement. It’s ridiculous in the best way.

Chicago in den 1930ern, aber bitte ohne Poesie. Ein einsamer Frankenstein kommt in die Stadt und sucht sich mit Dr. Euphronius gleich den perfekten “Assistenten” für ein ziemlich gruseliges Date-Projekt: Er will eine Gefährtin. Spoiler: Eine ermordete junge Frau bekommt ihr zweites Leben verpasst. Nicht als “Moral-Debatte”, eher als Problem mit Flirt-Turbo. Und natürlich läuft das nicht in ruhigen Bahnen. Die Braut übertrifft alles, was die beiden sich ausgedacht haben, kippt die Stimmung von creepy in romantisch und zieht dabei sofort die Polizei an. Als wäre das nicht genug, entfacht ihre Existenz auch noch eine wilde, radikale soziale Bewegung. Klingt nach Trash? Ist er auch. Macht aber genau darum Spaß.
